i have decided to run in the Boston Marathon. i needed a week or so to really decide. it is not so much the running of 26 miles again...it is the training, i needed to think about. towards the end, it consumes your life. everyday is pre-planned with whatever distance that days run happens to be. i love it because i like to be disciplined and i like challenges (which both are; the actual running of 26 miles and the training). i also love running because each run is different. my mind is free to be for ___ miles.
what do i think about?
- God...my relationship with Him
- family
- friends
- work
- soccer
- dreams
- struggles
- frustrations
- goals
- work through issues i have with myself...people in my life...the world
- what book i happen to be reading
- i plan out my soccer sessions
- plan out my next day, week at work and life
- and a lot of times
- NOTHING!!!
i don't know about you, but not thinking is a rare thing. and i have decided i love it.
so, cheers to more running!!!
If you want to make the trek...it's gonna be a party. Already my sister Paula, her husband Bart, and 3 of their kids are coming, my parents, my friend Riccara, Molly, and the list is growing. ;-)
Bring it on!!!! All i care is that i finish...
** did i mention i have never been to Boston!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How cool! I am so excited for you.
ReplyDeleteRunning Boston, eh? Way to go!
ReplyDeleteI am training for some as yet to be chosen marathon in the next couple of weeks. Actually, my goal is to stay marathon fit for a whole year - yep, 20+ mile long runs every week. Been here for over a month now and I feel pretty good. We should run one together for fun!
I understand what you are going through on this one. I am very seriously contemplating running the Denver Marathon this fall, after walking away from competitive running for several years. Given the life changes that happened during that time, I couldn't keep up the strict regimen running like that requires. Now that things have settled down (for now), I want to dabble with a marathon, so we'll see what happens.
ReplyDeleteYou will have to keep me updated on how your training goes.
