tis' the season

my longtime college friend riccara is seen here holding my skis the night before our first adventure into the mountains. this picture was taken in early december. since that time, on average every other week you can see a pair a skis resting in the same corner of my kitchen awaiting the next adventure. I LOVE SKIING!!!

so as i am writing this blog, once again a pair of skis are in my kitchen awaiting tomorrow. as the end of ski season approaches (although there are rumors of numerous ski resorts extending the season because of extremely high snow base) i find myself making more room in my busy, tightly packed schedule for skiing. i love the snow, the thrill of flying down a mountain, rounding the next bend with absolutely no idea what you will find (especially in the backcountry), the time away from the city, the view!!!!!

the simple and serene beauty of the mountains, littered with pine trees and covered in snow never ceases to amaze my senses. i treasure those times when i stop for a moment to just listen...usually while in the trees to nothing, silence...stillness. reminds me to take time to be still, to do nothing, to allow my body and mind to rest, to find pleasure in what God has created. his beauty is all around us, no matter where we live...(it just may be harder to see it in some places).

* the picture to the right is of my friend lynette snowboarding at copper in january. i have promised riccara i will try, so next thursday i will ride the mountain - on a snowboard - i hope i can still stand at the end of the day ;-)

if you live in colorado you are hoping for more snow in the moutains while we enjoy our 65 + days here in denver. wherevery you are...do you wish for spring?
