fears

we all have fears...things we do not want to admit that scare us, make us act strangely - may destroy something good. i am slowly learning to admit my weaknesses and to not see them as negatives but opportunitites to grow and change. i wrote a blog a while back (dec. 23 entry) about my my fears...my low view of myself. why i continue to struggle in this area i am unsure. but one thing i am sure of - i LOVE quotes!!!! i am sorting through feelings and things as i begin to box up the house for the move. i found one of my favorite quotes...and i want you to have it, because it is powerful!

Our Deepest Fear
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate,
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our Light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you NOT to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightening about shrinking
So that other people won't feel unsure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
As we let our own Light shine, we unconsciously give
Other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.
- Nelson Mandela

* What are your fears?
* What are your opportunities for growth?
* Want to share?

-- You may enlighten, maybe even liberate someone...

  2. sometimes i'm afraid of my own light but in a way that's a bit different from this quote. sometimes i'm afraid that i am so powerful i can make anything happen. i'm afraid of becoming my own god. of pulling my life (and others') in the direction i will them to go instead of following that voice inside. i'm afraid of too much power. of getting in my own way. for me, following and listening... those are the really hard things.

    i think it's striking the balance between having the confidence to be your best self and having the patience to listen to who that best self is and not let your will overshadow it.

    love to you.
