World Water Day

Do you know there is a World Water Day?

i didn't until a few years ago when my college soccer friend, Mandy Houle, began to write about it on her blog. she began to help the Holy Spirit stir my heart to help raise awareness about the problem of a lack of clean water. she introduced me to The Adventure Project and Becky Straw and Jody Landers (the co-founders) and what they are doing to help not only provide clean water to people but also jobs.

last year TAP, began a pilot program in Uganda to train well mechanics. this year they are back at it, with a goal to provide 23 more communities with a well mechanic to not only have clean drinking water but when that well breaks (because they all do) to have someone trained and capable to fix the well.

imagine having a faucet in your sink, a pipe to the city water system, but there is no water coming. what would you do? where would you go for water? you can't afford to go buy water at the store? in Uganda, there is no such thing...bottled water...

we all know the stats are bad.  we know that people die from the water they drink.  but sometimes it's good to remind ourselves.

-in Uganda, it is estimated that 11 million people lack access to clean water.  that's half of the country.
-water related diseases, including diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid fever are rampant.
-as of 2012, 90% of the collected waste-water of Kampala is discharged without any treatment. 


we can help change this. will you join with me and The Adventure Project and One's Days Wages to provide 5,750 people in Uganda with access to clean water by restoring 23 wells, while also creating jobs for 46 people. 

My goal is to help raise $1,500.00. 

This is my big, hairy, audacious goal for the next 6 days.
